A bit more about the purpose of the site.

Hi all,

My name is Neil and I hail from Belfast in Northern Ireland, although I now live in Newtownabbey which is about 10 miles away.

Having spent a lot of time around people like myself, I came to realise that there is a lot of creative ideas in the world. It only takes a short look through the web to realise that there are thousands of people out there, dreaming up all sorts of weird and wacky ideas. People who are not content to simply play the role of a consumer, who actively seek to understand how things work and change them.

Of course some projects are better than others. To the average lay person some of the ideas seem insane or even downright dangerous. This seems to be most true where projects challenge convention. Or perhaps it is because the creators of these projects spend more time dreaming up these ideas than doing more normal things such as walking the dog or tidying the house. Either way these ideas come to be branded as crazy.

However, if it were not for the crazy guy then who would we be today? Would we have cars? Books? Electricity? For it is the free flow of ideas unimpeded by the status quo that moves us forwards. We have the power to change ourselves for the better. Technology is not our master, it is our tool. There are projects like this all over the world ticking along in peoples spare time, in their sheds, garages, homes or even just their minds.

Thus this site was born. It celebrates the people who are not afraid to try new things and learn as they go to see where it leads them. Long live the tinkerer!

This site contains a raft of my projects, along with a selection of interesting projects I've found while surfing the web. At some point I may host other people's projects on this site, but for now I am happy enough to consider linking to sites if they are submitted via the contact me link on the site.

I will also set up a forum at some point too, in order to stimulate the mind.
